Microsoft has released an upgraded Modern Keyboard with a fingerprint scanner at $129. Touted as a successor to the Surface keyboard, the newly launched Microsoft Modern keyboard looks similar to that of the previously released keyboards. However, it integrates a fingerprint reader, which enables you to unlock Windows PCs by pressing the key adjacent to the space bar using Windows Hello.
The Microsoft Modern Keyboard can be used either in a wired mode or wirelessly via Bluetooth. You should have access to a device running Windows 10, iOS, MacOS including the latest Android Nougat.
In a statement released to the press, Microsoft reveals that the vision of the company is to blend the Fingerprint reader into a keyboard to cater to the latest technological trends. The keyboard has been developed to improve each layer to provide a flawless typing experience.
Recently, the iPhone manufacturer based in Cupertino had launched a new Magic keyboard paired with a number pad. However, it lacks TouchID and Touch Bar functionality.
Microsoft has refined the Bluetooth experience using which the keyboard will be automatically paired when you establish connectivity. You can use the Fingerprint ID either via wired or wireless mode, which gives you enhanced flexibility.
The Modern Keyboard manufactured by Microsoft will be available for purchase in the United States followed by other markets. We don’t have any information as to when Microsoft will release the keyboard in other regions such as India.
