OnePlus has released the next generation Snapdragon 835 processor smartphone OnePlus 5 on June 22. Apple had released iPhone 7 Plus on September 7, 2017, with dual camera and iOS 10. You should note that both smartphones are premium flagships. However, there are differences between OnePlus 5 and iPhone 7 Plus. In this article, we will compare the specifications of OnePlus 5 and iPhone 7 Plus in detail. Towards the end of the article, you will learn which smartphone to buy.


OnePlus 5 features a 5.5-inch FHD Optic AMOLED 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 display with a pixel density of 401PPI paired with an aspect ratio of 16:9. The iPhone 7 Plus, on the other hand, is equipped with IPS LED FHD Ion-strengthened glass display with a pixel density of 401 PPI.


OnePlus 5 is equipped with a Snapdragon 835 processor, Adreno 540 graphics, The processor is manufactured using 10nm technology and runs at a clock speed of 2.45GHz. If you look at iPhone 7 Plus, it ships with Apple A10 Fusion processor clocked at 2.34GHz and PowerVR Series7XT Plus graphics.

RAM and Storage

OnePlus 5 is available in two variants. While the 6GB RAM model will have 64GB UFS 2.1 storage, the 8GB RAM is equipped with a 128GB UFS 2.1 internal storage. Meanwhile, the iPhone 7 Plus features 3GB RAM coupled with 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB internal storage variants.


OnePlus 5 offers a dual 16MP camera with an aperture of f/1.7 and f/2.6 respectively. While the wide-angle camera is ragged with Sony IMX 398 sensor, the Sony IMX 350 occupies the Telephoto sensor segment. The iPhone 7 Plus also features a dual camera mechanism but it offers a 12MP sensor. The highlight of OnePlus 5 is the ability to capture 4K videos at 30fps. However, in the case of the iPhone 7 Plus, you can capture 2K videos at 30fps.

On the front, the OnePlus 5 carries a 16MP Sony IMX371 sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The iPhone 7 Plus features a 7MP front-facing shooter with f/2.2 aperture. Interestingly, both handsets provide support for FHD video capturing at 30 fps.


The advantage of OnePlus 5 is the integration of dash charging technology, which is capable of recharging your handset quickly without causing any heat. The phone is infused with a 3300mAh battery. Apple iPhone 7 Plus offers 2900mAh battery, which is said to deliver 21 hours of talk time on 3G.

Operating Platform

OnePlus 5 is loaded with OxygenOS based on Android Nougat. Hence, you will be able to take advantage of all the latest features such as split-screen, improved notifications and enhanced doze mode. You will have access to Google Assistant using which you can interact with your phone using voice.

If you look at the iPhone 7 Plus, the handset ships with OS 10.0.1 paired with Siri voice assistant. The user interface is completely different from Android. However, Apple has added several new features into the iOS 10.


You can purchase the Slate Gray variant of OnePlus 5 with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage at Rs. 32999. The 8GB RAM model with 128GB internal storage is available in Midnight Black color variant for Rs. 37999.

On the other hand, the iPhone 7 Plus equipped with 32GB storage is available for Rs. 55999. While the 128GB storage model is priced at Rs. 59999, the 256GB storage variant will cost Rs. 74999. As you can see, the iPhone 7 Plus is a tad expensive than OnePlus 5.

Based on the specifications, both the newly launched OnePlus 5 and the iPhone 7 Plus helps you to work effectively without any lags. The phones are not like standard Android handsets. It is decorated with plenty of premium features both in terms of design and other parameters. OnePlus 5 will be suitable for Android fans. If you are a hardcore fan of Apple and had worked with iPod and iPad, you can consider iPhone 7 Plus. OnePlus has fixed the pricing competitively. As always, Apple devices are expensive.
