Xiaomi has started to push Android 6.0 Nougat for the flagship Xiaomi Mi Max smartphone. According to techvalue.gr, the update is currently rolling out via OTA and is based on the MIUI 18.104.22.168 global stable ROM.
In addition to Android Nougat, the update also includes May security patch. The report reveals that the Nougat update is pushed only to those Mi Max handsets with 3GB RAM. The screenshot published by techvalue indicates the fact that the update was installed in Mi Max with 3GB. However, we don’t have any accurate information as to when Xiaomi will release the update for 4GB RAM variant.
If you are unable to view a message notification on your Xiaomi Mi Max, it will take few days to receive because of the nature of OTA rollouts. However, you can manually verify the presence of the update by navigating to Settings | About device | System update option.
You should note that the update is a full-blown Android Nougat. Hence, you cannot simply download and install with 20 percent battery. You need to completely charge the handset to the maximum because the download size will be more than 1GB. Furthermore, you should establish connectivity with Wi-Fi as well to avoid excess data charges.
