Amazon is gearing up to release a new software update with an incredible feature for the Echo series. Touted as smart speakers, the update enables you to make use of multiple Echos as room-to-room Intercom feature.
You will be able to select an Echo speaker in a specific room including the ability to communicate with it one-by-one. For example, you can call the kids to dinner from Amazon Echo included in the kitchen. You have to provide a unique name to each Amazon Echo. Moreover, you need to activate Drop-in feature from within the Alexa app.
There are reports that the new update will provide support for communicating with Amazon Echo owned by friends or relatives residing in a different area code. It is also possible to make use of the feature if you are away from home using the Alexa app.
The rumored update is expected to rollout to Amazon Echo series by the end of June 2017.
