Asus has pushed an update for the Android Wear 2.0 for the Asus ZenWatch 2 smartwatch. According to users on Reddit and the official product forums on Google, the update has already hit the smart watches with the 49mm version.
You should note that the update is being released via OTA in a phased manner. Hence, it could take few days for the update to hit your smartwatch. Asus has provided a detailed instruction regarding the steps involved to force the update if you are unable to wait until the update hits your wearable device. You need to manually download an OTA file and flash it with the help of ADB commands.
In addition to performance enhancements, the Android Wear 2.0 also includes several optimizations. The new software build also provides support for Android Pay, new UI, watch faces in addition to Google Assistant and improved notifications.
Unlike smartphones, Google is not quick when it comes to the updates for the wearables. The main reason for the problem is attributed to the fact that the market share of Android wearables are low because the devices are expensive to purchase. We expect the launch of Android Wear 3.0 by the end of 2017.
