Oppo, a popular smartphone company is in trouble for all wrong reasons. An Oppo employee based in China, who also happens to be a manager has reportedly shown gross discrimination towards the Oppo India service team. The result is that the eight affected Indian employees have tendered a mass resignation letter to the Human Resource department.
According to the resignation letter, the Chinese employee who is also serving as the HOD of Punjab service team is putting undue pressure on the service manager of the unit. The pressure is that the manager is being asked to resign for no reason. Moreover, the Chinese official also grossly disrespected India and its culture.
Treated as beggars
The resignation letter drafted by the eight employees dated July 15 has surfaced on the web. The letter looks genuine since there are signatures of all the employees with the date.
It also mentions that when employees ask for increment, the concerned Chinese employee used to say that Indians are beggars and always ask for money.
Deliberate monitoring
The main tactic of the manager is to assign more work deliberately and will ask employees in India to work till late night. He also allegedly closely monitors each and every employee, which is not in good taste. Moreover, the employees are being given a penalty if they are not fulfilling the assigned work.
The resigned employees also throw more beans by stating that there are more instances of abuse. Moreover, they call the Chinese employee as Hitler. It looks like the employees suffered a lot and resigned since they are unable to tolerate the work atmosphere.
Chronic competition
If you are unaware, OPPO, Vivo, and OnePlus are part of BBK Electronics based in China. Recently, OPPO inked a big deal with the Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) for the next five years to the tune of Rs. 1079 crore. Meanwhile, Vivo has already brought exclusive sponsorship rights for the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pro Kabaddi League for Rs. 2200 crores and Rs. 300 crores respectively. The Vivo is also the main sponsor for the Big Boss in a leading Television channel.
To recall, OPPO assembling unit employees recently went on huge protests in Noida after the Chinese employees disrespected Indian flag and thrown it to the dustbin. However, the company sacked the concerned employee based in China and the work resumed as usual.
We are not sure as to whether the resigned employees have reported to work or not since July 15. We will continue to keep track of the developments and provide you with updates.
