Samsung Galaxy S8 Active

Samsung Galaxy S8 Active Design Leaked Via Twitter

A rough design of the rumored Samsung Galaxy S8 Active has been leaked via Evan Blass aka @evleaks on Twitter. Blass posted an image of the rumored handset in a diagonal angle.

We can view the controls located on one side alongside the display. The leaked render displays 12 45 as the time paired with two icons on the bottom of the display. On the top, the relevant icons related to Wi-Fi and mobile data connectivity are displayed.

Touted as a rugged smartphone, the specifications of the upcoming Galaxy SS8 Active has been revealed by Weibo. The handset will ship with a 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels alongside Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB expandable internal storage.

A noticeable point is that the phone will not offer a curved edge display. The display will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 powered by a 4000mAh battery. When compared to Galaxy S8, the battery infused with the Active model will be higher and will deliver a backup of more than three days upon normal usage.

While the rear camera will be equipped with a 12MP sensor on the rear, the front-facing snapper offers 8MP sensor. Interestingly, both the camera sensors will bear f/1.7 aperture. Likely to be designed with a polycarbonate rear material and metal rims, Samsung will also provide support for wireless charging and Android Pay.

The main attraction of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active is the addition of MIL-STD-810G-certified shock proof technology. Even if the phone is dropped from a long distance, there will be no damages to the body or the display.

The sharp increase in the weight (208g) of the smartphone is due to the rugged nature and enhanced battery. It is more than 50g when compared with the Galaxy S8. Furthermore, the thickness of the handset has also been increased to 9.9mm.
