Xiaomi Mi AI Speaker will be available for best testing on August 10 exclusively via Mi Mall. The selected beta testers will need to pay CNY 1 to access the next-generation smart digital assistant.
The catch is that the beta program will be available only for users based in the China.To participate, you need to install Mi Mall app and make use of the password “small love students” to apply for the program.
Launched on July 26 along with Mi 5X, the Xiaomi Mi AI Speaker looks identical to that of the MI Air Purifier. It works similar to that of Google Home or Amazon Echo speakers. The speaker has been integrated with 6 omnidirectional microphones, which is capable of fetching the sound output up to 16 meters away.
In addition to microphones, the Mi AI Speaker also includes three separate speakers. While the 360-degree speaker is located at the base, the other speakers are located on two of the four sides. It is also possible to establish connectivity to the speaker via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or DLNA.
The Xiaomi Mi AI Speaker will be able to play music including fetching traffic/weather report, alarm and listening to entertainment stories. Moreover, the speaker can also be used to remote control other smart gadgets and appliances in the home. Xiaomi has designed the speaker in such a way that even kids can work and play with the device.
Expected to be sold at CNY 299 ($44), the application for the beta program starts on August 10 and end on August 16. The program is applicable only for people located inside China.
