Google has started to roll out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update for the Nexus 6 smartphone. Launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop in 2014, the device has been getting a steady flow of updates. However, users have reported several bugs.
The main reason behind the release of monthly updates is to address bugs. The recent release of Android 7.1.1 Nougat to Nexus 6 is a step in the right direction since it will decrease the number of bugs. Moreover, the device will be stable to a great extent.
Interestingly, Google had rolled out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update to Nexus 6 handsets. However, the company had to roll out a down update for all the Nexus 6 phones running on Android 7.1.1. This has caused the devices to return to Android 7.0.
The main reason for the March update fiasco is that the update caused Android Pay to crash. After releasing the downgraded update, the Nexus 6 started to work as usual. Google had worked hard to resolve all the bugs and problems and has started to push Android 7.1.1 Nougat update.
To install the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, you need to install the Android 7.0 Nougat build. With a weight of 367.9MB, the update resolves critical bugs including improvement of the performance and stability of Nexus 6. The update page has specifically pointed out that downloading the update over the mobile or during roaming results in additional charges. After the installation of the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update, your device will restart.
If the update is available for your Nexus 6, you will view a message notification. Otherwise, you can manually verify the presence of the update by tapping the Settings icon.It is advisable to establish connectivity with Wi-Fi before initiating the download process. It is to be noted that the capacity of the update file is not large. Hence, you can install it over 4G connectivity as well.
