Android Oreo: Google Reveals Official Launch Date

After widespread rumors, Google’s upcoming Android version will be most likely be named as Android Oreo if the leaked screenshot is found to be correct. Previously, it was rumored that the name could be Octopus but in the end, the search-engine giant decided to stick to Oreo.

According to Android Police, Google had shared an image via its official Google+ handle for a short span of time. The image clearly revealed the file name of the teaser video of the new Android operating platform.

As you can see from the above image, the file name has been given a name as GoogleOreo_Teaser_0817_noDroids (1).mp4. Hence, you can very much believe that the next big release of Android will be Oreo. As of this writing, the official Google+ post doesn’t exist. We managed to visit the Google+ link but found that the content has been deleted.

Interestingly, Google had changed the name of the promo video as OctopusTeaser.mp4. Even though there are speculations about various names doing the rounds, Oreo could be the best choice. The main reason is that of the fact that the name is well known internationally.

Meanwhile, the official launch event for the launch of Android O has been scheduled for August 21 at 2.40PM ET in New York. The event will be streamed on YouTube for those who are unable to attend the launch. The official website showcases the details along with a launch timer. You can also view the launch event in two different ways by selecting the Live option.

The launch will also coincide with the solar eclipse and the company is gearing up to take maximum advantage of the eclipse. The teaser content clearly states that the launch is that of Android O, which will be touching down to earth for #Eclipse2017. Moreover, the new Android platform will also bring new super sweet powers, which should be new features to improve the productivity of the users.

The teaser video doesn’t reveal any information except the date and the official URL. We have to wait and watch until August 21 to know about the features of the new Android platform.
