Coolpad Cool Play 6 smartphone has been launched in India at an event held in Dubai on August 20. Launched in China early 2017, the company has disclosed that they have customized the much-awaited Coolpad Cool Play 6 handset for the Indian market. Touted to be Amazon exclusive, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 will be available in Black and Gold color variants on September 4.
Display
Coolpad Cool Play 6 is equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Hence, you will be able to read e-books and navigate apps easily in a small display area compared to traditional HD display.
Performance
Powered by a Snapdragon 653 processor, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 features 6GB RAM coupled with 64GB expandable internal storage. The processor runs at a clock speed of 1.4GHz and is based on octa-core technology comprising of four cores running at 1.95GHz. However, the other four cores run at 1.44GHz. It is possible to extend the storage, which helps you to store plenty of files. The need for microSD cards doesn’t arise for normal users since the default storage is 64GB, which itself is huge and massive compared to competing handsets.
Camera
The highlight of the Coolpad Cool Play 6 is the integration of dual 12 MP sensors on the rear paired with f/2.0 aperture. In addition to dual-LED flash, the Cool Play 6 provides support for dual-tone, HDR including the ability to shoot 4K videos. On the front, you have an 8MP sensor alongside f/2.2 aperture.
Battery
The phone gets adequate power from the integrated 4000mAh battery, which is capable of delivering two full days of backup upon normal usage. During the launch event, the company disclosed that the software optimization modules included with the device will work in tandem with the device. Hence, the customers will be able to get the benefit of a phone with 4500mAh battery. It remains to be seen as to how far this is true.
Operating platform
As expected, the Coolpad Cool Play 6 is preloaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat based on Journey UI. The company revealed in Dubai that the phone will be pushed with Android O update by the end of December 2017. Hence, you will be able to work with all the latest features of the Android platform such as split-screen, improved notifications and enhanced power saving module via Doze mode.
Connectivity
Coolpad Cool Play 6 ships with support for 4G. Hence, it is possible to use Reliance Jio connection and experience premium Internet including a wide range of apps. Moreover, the handset also provides support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C fast charging support and fingerprint sensor including all the standard sensors.
Pricing
The Coolpad Cool Play 6 will be available at a competitive price of Rs. 14999 in Black and Gold color options starting September 4 exclusively via Amazon.
During the launch event, the company revealed that they are planning to expand the offline presence to 18 states by 2018. The company added that they have a market share of 25 percent on Amazon for below Rs. 8000 category. Moreover, the company is gearing up to launch exclusive service centers in five cities over the span of 6 months. The newly launched phone will be manufactured at Videocon’s Aurangabad plant under Make in India initiative.
