Reliance will start the bookings for the much-awaited JioPhone from August 24. The company will provide JioPhone on the first come, first serve basis. To register for the JioPhone booking, you need to navigate to Jio.com and select the banner featuring the phone. You should provide the first name, last name, e-mail, phone, and pincode. The company official will establish contact with you over e-mail or phone and inform you when the JioPhone is made available.
With a target to sell 50 crore feature phones, the JioPhone will be available for pre-order from August 24. A one-time refundable security deposit of Rs. 1500 is required to purchase the phone. Moreover, you need to provide your Aadhaar card number and other information.
If you are running any business, you need to provide PAN/GSTN number including the number of devices required. The e-mail should originate from your company domain.

Refund after 36 months

The company is currently conducting beta testing of the JioPhone. According to Reliance Jio, the customer will be able to work with unlimited data using the phone for Rs. 153 per month.
Possible privacy problems
The big question here is what will happen to the data stored on the JioPhone after 36 months. Even if you erase all data including contacts and images, it is possible to recover them using third-party tools. Hence, you should think twice before returning the phone because of the potential privacy issues.
