Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has been launched with a 5.99-inch bezel-less display starting at CNY 3299 for the default 6GB RAM variant. The highlight of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is the integration of an 18:9 aspect ratio coupled with a 12% smaller bottom bezel. Moreover, the smartphone also ships with a hidden sound-guided speaker alongside an ultrasonic proximity sensor.
Design
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is designed with 12% smaller when compared to the previous counterparts. The phone is also 2.5% thinner and 11.5% lighter that Mi Mix. When compared to the iPhone 7 Plus, the Mi Mix 2 is also 7 percent smaller. The standard model offers a Black lens coating for the rear and front camera. You will also find 18L gold plated camera ring surrounding the rear camera. The smartphone is designed using a 7-series aluminium frame, which is housed in the four-sided curved ceramic body. Talking about the special edition Mi Mix 2, the phone will be available in White and Black color variants and is designed with a complete ceramic body.
During the launch event, Xiaomi revealed that the Mi Mix 2 is integrated with a cantilever piezoelectric ceramic acoustic audio technology, which delivers the rich sound via the metal frame and passes it to the display. Hence, you will not find the speaker grills on the handset. We feel that Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will be the first phone in the world to ship with a hidden speaker. The speaker has been designed with 50mW membrane speaker coupled with a soundhole and guiding tube. The phone also provides support for 6 modes and 43 bands.
Display
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is equipped with a 5.99-inch FHD (1080×2160) display with a pixel density of 403PPI paired with a DCI-P3 colour gamut. The aspect ratio of 18:9 helps you to experience large content.
Performance
Powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will be available in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants. When it comes to storage, the handset will be available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB non-expandable internal storage variants. The processor runs at a clock speed of 2.45GHz, which helps you to work with any apps quickly.
Camera
The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 offers a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and facial recognition technology. Moreover, the rear camera also ships with 1.25-micron pixels, 5-piece lens, and 4-axis optical image stabilization. The front camera is infused with a 5MP camera with support for facial recognition.
Connectivity
In addition to 4G LTE, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 also provides support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, GPS, A-GPS and USB Type-C port. With a weight of 185 grams, the standard edition of the Mi Mix 2 measures 7.7mm in thickness. The special edition will have a thickness of 7.7mm with 187 grams weight.
Battery
The handset is powered by a 3400mAh battery with support for all the standard sensors such as an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometers, digital compass and proximity sensor loaded with ultrasonic technology.
Pricing
The standard variant comprising of 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage is priced at CNY 3299. While the 128GB model will cost CNY 3599, the premium 256GB storage model is priced at CNY 3999. The full ceramic body Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 special edition with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage will hit the retail stores at a massive CNY 4699.
