Xiaomi has launched the next-generation Mi Band HRX Edition with a capability to deliver 23-day battery life ar INR 1299. The Lei Jun-owned company has established a partnership with HRX owned by the Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan for the design and manufacture of the fitness band.
The Xiaomi Mi Band HRX Edition features an OLED display, which displays the time, steps, distance covered including calories burnt. The tracker also offers a pedometer with an enhanced algorithm for accurate measurement of the steps and exercise. The disadvantage of the HRX edition is that it doesn’t include a heart rate monitor.
The band also generate alerts if you are sedentary (idle) for a long time. After the alert, you can move from one place to another, which will improve your blood flow. It will help you to walk for a short distance and drink water at regular intervals.
Commenting on the development, Manu Jain, Xiaomi Vice President, and India Managing Director disclosed that the fitness category is at an extremely dynamic stage. He added that Hrithik provided inputs on features that should be integrated with the product to make it modern.
The band also monitor your sleeping habits including the ability to deliver alerts related to calls and notifications. The band also ships with a feature to unlock your Android handset without using any fingerprint or passcode. Like any other wearable tracker, the Mi Band HRX edition is also resistant to not only water but also splashes, sweat, and dust via IP67 technology.
The main difference between the Mi Band 2 and the Mi Band HRX Edition is the addition of the HRX logo embedded on the strap. If you compare with competing wearables such as MGCOOL Band 2, the lack of the HR monitor is a big con. It remains to be seen how Xiaomi will push a fitness tracker without including a heart rate monitor.
The Mi Band HRX features a glossy black display with fingerprint resistant UV coating. The anodized button offers 0.05mm ripples etched across the surface alongside a power saving OLED display. You just need to tap on the button to track time and perform other work. The sensor is tightly placed on the band and fits on your wrist perfectly with adequate grip. According to company sources, the band will be very comfortable for people with sensitive skin.
Touted as the mild variant to the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, the newly launched Xiaomi Mi Band HRX Edition will be available on Mi.com and Mi Home offline retail chains from September 18. Moreover, the fitness tracker will also be made available on Myntra, Flipkart and Amazon starting September 20. Interestingly, the dates coincide with the Flipkart Big Billion Days and Amazon Great Indian Sale.
