Sony has rolled out August security patch for the Sony Xperia XA1, XA1 Ultra, and L1 smartphones. Even though the August security update has been released, the Android version continues to be the same as Android 7.0 Nougat.
It’s too early for the Sony to ship updates with Android 8.0 Oreo. We expect Oreo update before the end of 2017. According to Sony, the Oreo update will be pushed to Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra followed by other models.
While the software build number for the Sony Xperia XA1 is tagged with 40.0.A.6.135, the update for the Sony XA1 Ultra gets the version number 42.0.A.4.101.When it comes to Sony Xperia L1, the August security update is being rolled out under the version number 43.0.A.5.79.
If you verify the build number of the latest update with the previous update, you will know that Sony has changed only the last number without learning other names. Like in the case of all the update, the August Security update includes plenty of bug fixes in addition to security-related enhancements.
After the installation of the update, the performance of your device will improve to a large extent. The update is being pushed to the devices via OTA. Hence, it will take few days for the update to hit the handsets. You can also manually verify the presence of the update by navigating to the Settings menu.
It is vital to charge the smartphone up to 90% before proceeding to download the update to avoid interruptions as a result of power outages. Moreover, you should also establish connectivity with Wi-Fi to avoid excess mobile charges.
