Karbonn has announced the launch of Karbonn K9 Smart Grand smartphone at a budget-friendly price tag of Rs. 5290 in both Champagne and Black color variants. Touted as the successor to the Karbonn K9 Smart, the Karbonn K9 Smart Grand features a 5.2-inch with a minimum resolution of 480×854 pixels. However, the company has added 2.5D curved glass for protection.


The Karbonn K9 Smart Grand is equipped with a 5.2-inch FWVGA (480×854 pixels) display protected by a 2.5D curved glass. You should note that the resolution is a bit low when compared to HD and FHD smartphones. The handset can be used for light phone related operations.


Powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, the Karbonn K9 Smart Grand features 1GB RAM coupled with 8GB of expandable internal storage. It is possible to extend the memory up to 32GB using microSD card.


The rear camera features an 8MP sensor with support for LED Flash including several modes such as panorama and continuous shot modes. Moreover, the phone also includes a unique capability to unlock via face. On the front, you will find a 5MP camera sensor.

Operating platform

Powered by a 2300mAh battery, the Karbonn K9 Smart Grand is pre-loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat. You will be able to work with latest features such as split-screen, improved notifications and enhanced power saving mode.


In addition to 4GB VoLTE, the Karbonn K9 Smart Grand provides support for-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, FM Radio including a traditional headphone port. With a thickness of 9.45mm, the handset measures 178 grams. Moreover, the phone also bears a fingerprint sensor using which you can unlock the phone.

The Karbonn K9 Smart Grand is available for Rs. 5290 in two color variants. However, if you search, you will find several alternatives with enhanced display and processor for Rs. 2000 more than the cost of this phone. The addition of 1GB RAM is insufficient for gamers. The 8GB storage is also less based on the latest technological trends.
