HMD Global Confirms Android P For All Nokia Android Smartphones

HMD Global

HMD Global has confirmed that Android P will be made available to all Nokia smartphones. The company recently revealed that the Android 8.0 Oreo update will be released by the end of 2017.

If you have access to any one of the latest Nokia-branded Android smartphone such as Nokia 3, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8, you should receive an update to Android Oreo in December 2017 followed by Android P by the end of 2018.

With the annoucement of Android P availability, the company is trying to gain confidence of customers. When popular companies such as OnePlus refused to provide Android P update to OnePlus 5, the HMD Global has gone one step ahead by stating that the Nokia smartphone will be pushed with Android P update.

There are reports that HMD Global is gearing up to launch several smartphones before the end of 2017. That said, the Android 7.0 Nougat branded smartphones will receive two major Android upgrades. The Android Oreo will be integrated with the upcoming Google Pixel 2 series. We expect the launch of several smartphones loaded with Oreo including Samsung Galaxy S9 series early 2018.

Naturally, the Nokia owners are excited as the company has made a promise of providing Android P in 2017 itself. The development will motivate users to stay with the company since the new updates are being rolled out free of cost. According to Gizbot, the Android P will not be available to the entry level Nokia 2. However, there is no clarification for the company as to which smartphones will get the required Android P update.

Recently, Nokia 8 was reportedly seen running Android 8.0 Oreo beta build. Hence, we expect an imminent release of the handset. The rollout of Android P is far away but we expect the Android Oreo update before the end of December 2017.

In addition to Nokia, other manufacturers such as OnePlus, Samsung, Huawei, Honor, Lenovo, Sony and Samsung are also expected to push Android Oreo update to their respective devices.

According to latest reports, only one percent of the smartphones got Android 8.0 Oreo update globally. Based on the trends, we expect the availability of Oreo in all major handsets by October 2018.
