Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL launch: All You Want To Know

Google is gearing up to launch the next-generation Pixel 2 smartphones in addition to a smart speaker and PixelBook laptop. After the launch of iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung Galaxy Note 8, the rumor mills were abuzz with the upcoming Pixel 2 series.

According to reports, the search-engine giant will launch Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL on October 4. Moreover, the company is also planning to launch a new Daydream VR headset. In addition to the standard Pixel 2, you can also expect the launch of Pixel 2 XL with a large display.

Addition of bezel-less display

Based on the reports emerging from rumor mills, the design of the Pixel 2 will be identical to that of the previous counterpart. The interesting point to note is that the Pixel 2 XL will have a bezel-less design with 18:9 aspect ratio. With Infinity display, it is possible to read more content in small screen size.

Two manufacturers

While Pixel will be manufactured by HTC, the Pixel XL will ship from the house of LG. To recall, LG has manufactured several handsets with bezel-less displays since they have the required expertise and technology. You can also expect the addition of water-resistant technology via IP67.

Possible integration of squeeze capability

Talking about the probable features, the Pixel 2 series will ship with squeeze functionality similar to that of the HTC U11 paired with Optical Image Stabilisation support.Even though the handset will include a single camera, the features will make the device more powerful than the competing handsets. There are reports that the camera sensor provides support for Portrait Mode.

Like in the case of all the premium smartphones, Google would most likely remove the traditional headphone port to pave way for the USB Type-C port. The upcoming handset will also feature dual stereo speakers to provide the bass effect.

Other devices in the pipeline

In addition to Pixel 2 series, you can also expect the launch of a smart speaker powered by Google Assistant. If the Gmail-owned company releases the new speaker, then it will be a competitor to Amazon Alexa. As per 9to5Google, the company is planning to launch both smaller and premium large speaker. The higher model will have enhanced sound performance with stereo speakers.

Dubbed as Google Pixelbook, the device will have a large display with Google Pencil using which you can draw stuff directly on the display. However, the new stylus will be sold as an optional accessory. During the launch event, Google will also launch a refreshed Daydream R headset in Coral, Fog, and Charcoal color options at $99.
