Google unveiled the much-anticipated Pixel 2 smartphone at a launch event held in San Francisco. The handset was launched along with the Pixel 2 XL and other accessories. The launch of the Google Pixel 2 assumes importance in the wake of the launch of premium handsets such as Galaxy S8, LG G6, iPhone 8 and Essential Phone.
The Google Pixel 2 is equipped with a 5-inch AMOLED FHD cinematic display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels and 16:9 aspect ratio. The screen is coated with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with 95% DC1-P3 coverage with a pixel density of 441PPI. Designed with an Aluminum unibody, the phone is resistant to water and dust.
Powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, the Pixel 2 comes with an Adreno 540 graphics, 4GB LPDDR4x RAM, 64GB/128GB internal storage. The processor runs on an octa-core chipset with 2.35Ghz and 1.9Ghz speed. Google is also offering free storage for images and videos captured using Pixel until January 15, 2021. The offer will be extended only for images and photos after the date.
The rear side features a 12.2MP camera with f/1.8 aperture and support for laser autofocus and dual pixel phase detection. Moreover, the sensor provides support for optical and electronic image stabilization. It is possible to capture 4K videos at 30fps and FHD at 30, 60 and 120 fps respectively. On the front, the Pixel 2 offers an 8MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture.
The Pixel 2 is integrated with a 2700mAh battery and is capable of delivering up to seven hours of standby time upon 15 minutes of charging. However, the company has specifically stated that the battery life depends upon several scenarios and hence you can expect minor variations.
In addition to 4G VoLTE, the Google Pixel 2 provides support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, eSIM, USB-C, Active Edge in addition to sensors such as Proximity and Ambient light. The handset also includes Accelerometer, Gyrometer, Magnetometer including a fingerprint sensor on the rear for quick unlocking.
The Google Pixel 2 is available in Just Black, Clearly White, Kinds Blur and Black & White color variants. The 64GB storage unlocked model is available at $649. Moreover, you can also opt for monthly basis at $27.04 per month for 24 months. The 128GB model is available at $749 or $31.21 per month for 24 months. The 64GB storage variant of the Pixel 2 XL will be available at $849 or on an installment basis by paying $35.38 for 24 months. You can purchase 128GB Pixel 2 XL for $949 or $39.54 for 24 months. As a customer, you can also avail Google Store Financing.
