After the launch of OnePlus 5, many popular tech news portals have reported that the company will skip OnePlus 5T and directly launch OnePlus 6 in 2018. However, the latest reports emerging from the rumor mills indicates the fact that the company is indeed gearing up to launch the rumored OnePlus 5T around November end.
According to GizmoChina, the OnePlus 5T will launch by the end of November 2017 with major change to the display. In 2016, the company changed the processor from Snapdragon 820 to Snapdragon 821 when they launched the OnePlus 3T.
Based on the reports emerging from the rumor mills, the OnePlus 5T will ship with a 6-inch FHD+ bezel-less display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The site also revealed an image of the prototype and it clearly suggests the presence of a thin display with minimum bezels. Moreover, the edges of the display appear as curved identical to that of the Galaxy S8 with 18.5:9 aspect ratio.
The move is being done to combat the competition from the likes of Samsung Galaxy S8, iPhone X, and LG G6. If the bezel-less display turns out to be a big hit, then the company will integrate it from the upcoming OnePlus 6.
The rumor surrounding the launch of OnePlus 5T assumes significance in the wake of the Slate Grey color variant of the OnePlus 5 going out of stock in the UK. The Chinese-based smartphone manufacturer will abandon the production of existing handsets when they move ahead with a new model. After the launch of OnePlus 6 in 2018, the sale of the OnePlus 5 will be discontinued.
Meanwhile, the company announced that they will provide Android Oreo update to OnePlus 5 but not Android P. Hence, your device will not receive any updates beyond Android O which is a big disappointment for customers who have invested plenty of hard earned money.
