Amazon Alexa app for Android and iOS has been launched in India. The launch is important for the proper functioning of the Amazon Echo devices. Interestingly, the company has started to ship the Echo Dot for all customers who have pre-ordered it during the Diwali sale.
To work with the Amazon Echo, you need to install Amazon Alexa app and sync the Echo device. In addition to search related information, the Alexa app also displays music that is being played and new skills.
Amazon has established partnerships with companies for the development of India-centric skills. This includes NDTV, Times of India, Ola, Syska, and Sportskeeds. According to Amazon, there are around 10000+ skills available in India. The Echo speaker plays music via Amazon Music, Saavn, and TuneIn.
Amazon India launched Echo Dot, Echo and Plus variant during the Diwali season at a discount of 30% coupled with Amazon Prime subscription. While the Echo Dot is available for Rs. 3149, the Amazon Echo is available for Rs. 6999 after 30% discount. If you would like to buy the powerful Amazon Echo Plus, you need to pay Rs. 10499.
The Amazon Echo series is currently available only on an invitation basis. You need to visit the product page and select Request invitation button. We expect the e-commerce retailer to sell Echo without invitation after few days.
To work with the Amazon Alexa app, you need to sign-in with your Amazon credentials. We have downloaded the app but will test after the receipt of Echo Dot.
