Xiaomi recently launched Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite models with new features and specifications. The main attraction of Xiaomi Redmi Y1 is the addition of a 16MP front camera with LED selfie light. Moreover, the smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 435 processor and also includes a dedicated fingerprint sensor. Like in all other Xiaomi devices, you will be able to extend the storage using microSD card.
The Redmi Y1 Lite is equipped with a 13MP sensor with support for PDAF. The difference between the standard and Lite model is the integration of a Snapdragon 425 processor.
Display
The Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite feature a 5.5-inch 2.5D HD display (1000:1, 450-nits, 72% NTSC) with a capability to work with the handset with one hand. The display is large enough for working with apps, emails and media consumption. The advanced reading mode and night display will help you to improve productivity considerably. According to Xiaomi, the Redmi Y1 Lite will be comfortable for extended usage.
Performance
While Redmi Y1 features a Snapdragon 435 processor coupled with Adreno 505 graphics, the Redmi Y1 Lite is equipped with a Snapdragon 425 processor alongside Adreno 308 processor. The Redmi Y1 is available in both 3GB and 4GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB expandable (up to 128GB) internal storage variants. In the case of Redmi Y1 Lite, the device offers 2GB RAM paired with 16GB internal storage.
Camera
The Redmi Y1 is equipped with 13MP rear f/2.2 aperture camera with support for PDAF, HDR, Panorama, Burst mode, face recognition including the availability of real-time filters. The front camera ships with a 16MP sensor with selfie-light and 36 smart beauty profiles to enhance the look of the selfies. The camera also carries a 76.4-degree wide-angle lens with support for selfie countdown and face recognition.
The Redmi Y1 Lite, meanwhile, carries a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and support for all the features in the standard Y1 handset. Even though the front camera offers support for all the features, the capacity of the sensor is only 5MP. If you would like to capture stunning bright selfies, you should purchase Redmi Y1.

The interesting point to note is that even though the capacity of the battery is same, the Lite variant will deliver a standby time of 11 days. It could be because of the trimmed processor, memory and front camera sensor.
Advanced Features
The main advantage of Redmi Y1 is that it is equipped with a fingerprint scanner with the capability to unlock the device quickly.
