Xiaomi R1 smartphone rumored to ship with 18:9 full display

Xiaomi is well known for the release of several smartphones once in every two months. The latest rumor is that the company is gearing up to launch Xiaomi R1 smartphone with 18:9 Full Display in China. The Lei Jun-owned company will launch Redmi 5A aka Desh Ka Smartphone in India followed by Redmi Note 5 in China.

According to rumors, the Xiaomi R1 smartphone will be designed using metal unibody coupled with a fingerprint sensor on the rear. The addition of 18:9 aspect ratio display will set new benchmarks in the budget smartphone segment. As of this writing, we don’t have any information about the features and specifications of the R1 smartphone.

Let’s talk about the upcoming Redmi 5A, which is dubbed as Desh Ka Smartphone. The Redmi 5A will be equipped with a 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 425 processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB expandable internal storage powered by a 3000mAh battery. The display will have a standard aspect ratio of 16:9, which is regular in other Xiaomi smartphones.

While the rear side will feature a 13MP camera with f/2.2 aperture, the front portion will be infused with a 5MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The disappointing factor is that the 3000mAh battery integrated on to the device will not provide support for fast charging. The device will be pre-loaded with Android 7.1 Nougat based MIUI 9.

After the launch of Samsung Galaxy S8 series in early 2017, we have seen a plethora of companies launching new smartphones with an aspect ratio of 18:9, which looks attractive. In 2016, Xiaomi had launched Mi MIX smartphone with a bezel-less display on left, right and top portion with 18:9 aspect ratio. The recently launched Mi MIX 2 includes new features including Gold plated camera sensor rings.

You should accept the facts only with a pinch of salt since there is no official confirmation. We will continue to provide you with updates. Stay tuned.
