Nowadays, bezel-less smartphones have become a common trend and we can expect a wide range of new devices to be launched during MWC 2018. You will find Full Display smartphones manufactured by Xiaomi, Samsung, Honor, and other Chinese companies. It is to be noted that even budget-friendly smartphones ship with a bezel-less display. The latest news is that Sony is reportedly working on to release a bezel-less smartphone and is expected to hit the retail shelves in 2018. Moreover, the company will showcase the premium smartphone during the upcoming MWC 2018.
Model number revealed
According to Reddit, Sony is gearing up to launch a new bezel-less smartphone in 2018 and also exposed the specifications of the rumored phone. However, the company hasn’t yet confirmed the matter. Moreover, the Reddit report suggests the fact that the upcoming device will ship with model number H8541 but the name of the proposed handset is yet to be revealed.
Advanced protection
According to the leaked specifications sourced from Reddit, the bezel-less Sony smartphone is expected to ship with a 5.7-inch 4K HDR display. Moreover, the reports suggest that the display will be protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which will prevent damage to the display.
Outdated processor
Expected to be powered by a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor, the rumored Sony smartphone will be integrated with a 3500mAh battery, which is higher than other competing devices. If Sony decides to launch the new device with Snapdragon 835 processor, then the phone will be outdated.
The main reason is attributed to the fact that Samsung Galaxy S9 series will most probably carry Snapdragon 845 chipset with advanced cooling effects. There are reports that Samsung had reserved Snapdragon 845 for the Galaxy S9 series. Hence, other manufacturers will be able to use the processor only after April 2018.
Addition of Android Oreo
In addition to bezel-less Full Display, the forthcoming Sony smartphone will feature 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage including all the standard sensors loaded with Android Oreo. Interestingly, the device also carries USB Type-C fast charging port. Like in the case of premium flagships, the Sony phone will be not only resistant to water but also dust via IP68. The addition of Android Oreo is a definite advantage since you can work with all the latest features.
We don’t have any confirmation or rumors about the camera part but we assume that Sony is clever to ship new devices with advanced imaging capabilities. You can expect at least 21MP sensor.
The MWC event is the best place to showcase all the latest smartphones. If Sony indeed decides to ship with a new bezel-less smartphone, then the company will announce during the sidelines of the MWC 2018 to generate hype. However, we can expect the actual launch by around May 2018.
