Twitter Lite rolled out to 24 more countries via Google Play Store

Twitter Lite is currently made available in 24 more countries across Asia, Africa, Middle East, Europe and Latin America. The main purpose of the launch of Twitter Lite is to minimize data consumption and to load quicker on slower network connections. Even if your mobile network is unreliable, you will be able to work with Twitter Lite without any problem.

According to the company sources, the Tweets sent from Twitter Lite has been increased more than 50% ever since its introduction in April 2017. After the launch, the app has been refreshed with several performance improvements including the search for GIF images. You will be able to work with ranked home timeline.

Commenting on the development, Jesar Shah, Product Manager, Twitter disclosed that they started to test the Lite version of Twitter in the Philippines via Google Play Store in September. The feedback was positive from both user research and Play Store reviews. The advantage of Twitter Lite app is mainly attributed to the small size, quick loading, and reduced data usage. Shah added that the team decided to push the app to several countries based on the feedback from the community.

Twitter Lite is popular because of its ability to occupy less space and is also data friendly. The apps load quickly on 2G and 3G mobile networks and also offers offline support if the connectivity is lost temporarily. The app ships with a data save mode using which you can download images and videos that you would like to watch.

The Twitter Lite only requires 3MB space and hence you can install even in smartphones with storage less than 4GB. Moreover, the micro-blogging app is compatible with devices running Android 5.0 and above.
