Xiaomi is gearing up to launch Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones on December 7 in China. According to rumor mills, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus will ship pre-loaded with the latest MIUI 9 user interface. It is to be noted that MIUI 9 comes with several new features when compared to the MIUI 8.
With only a few days left for the official launch, the user manual that of the rumored Redmi 5 has been leaked. The manual reveals the fact that the smartphone will provide support for hybrid dual-sim slot. Hence, you will be able to make use of the dual SIM cards or a SIM with the microSD card.
The manual also states that the upcoming Redmi 5 series will only provide support for 4G SIM. If you work with a 3G connectivity, you will not be able to use the handset for performing phone calls.
The leaked user guide displays three circular sensors housed at the top bezel of the handset. According to rumors, the device will probably integrate a soft selfie LED flash on the front-facing camera coupled with a proximity sensor.
Weibo leak confirms MIUI 9
In a significant development, Xiaomi also shared an image which surfaced on microblogging website Weibo that indicates that the upcoming Redmi 5 Series will be integrated with MIUI 9.
You should note that MIUI 9 is based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat, which helps you to work with all the latest features such as split-screen, improved notifications and enhanced Doze mode.
Redmi 5 specifications
Talking about the specifications, the Redmi 5 will be equipped with a 5.7-inch HD+ bezel-less display with 18:9 aspect ratio. You will be able to experience stunning visuals with a borderless display. The smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 450 processor paired with 3GB RAM.
There are reports that the company will release the handset in both 16GB and 32GB internal storage variants. On the optics front, the handset will offer either 12MP or 8MP rear camera combined with 6MP selfie camera. The 16GB model will cost CNY 799, while the 32GB model will fetch CNY 899.
The Redmi 5 Plus will be slightly different with a 5.9-inch FHD+ display, Snapdragon 625 processor loaded with MIUI 9 on top of Android 7.1.2 Nougat. There will be two variants. The 3GB RAM will have 32GB storage, while the 4GB RAM model will bear a 64GB internal storage. Likely to be powered by a 4000mAh battery, the smartphone will ship with dual camera sensors comprising of 12MP and 5MP camera sensors.
According to The Mobile Indian, the 32GB model will be available at CNY 99, while the 64GB variant will cost CNY 1299. However, we don’t have any confirmation regarding the price. The 32GB will certainly cost more than CNY 99 and it could be around CNY 499. Anyway, we will be able to know the cost on the launch date.
