Microsoft has announced the launch of the Always Connected computers powered by Snapdragon processor and loaded with Windows 10 in partnership with HP and Asus. During an event in Hawaii, Terry Myerson, Executive Vice President, Windows, and Devices Group demonstrated the working of the first-ever Always Connected PCs named Asus NovaGo and HP Envy x2.
The main attraction of the new series of laptops is that it provides 4G LTE connectivity with extended battery life when compared with x86 PCs. According to Microsoft, the newly announced devices are the next big revolution in the technology segment after the emerging virtual reality.
The highlight of the Always Connected PCs is the addition of a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor instead of the regular Intel Core processor. Microsoft announced the partnership with Qualcomm in December 2016. In the past, the Redmond-based tech giant had established collaboration with Intel and AMD to manufacture x89 chipsets for various third-party products.
Myerson said that the newly launched Always Connected PCs are optimized in such a way that it switches on immediately as you lift the lid. With a massive one week of battery life and premium Windows 10 experience, you will be able to work with the laptop in a unique way.
The Asus NovaGo is equipped with a 13.3-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB/8GB RAM coupled with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage capacities. The PC features a dual USB 3.1 Type-A ports and one HDMI port. Unlike other standard computers, the NovaGo is pre-loaded with Windows 10 S with support for Windows Hello, Windows Ink, and Cortana digital assistant. The Asus NovaGo Always Connected computer is capable of delivering 30-hour battery life with the help of the 52Wh battery integrated into the device. Moreover, the NovaGo offers support for 4G LTE with support for eSIM and Nano-SIM options.
HP Envy x2
The HP Envy x2 offers a 12.3-inch WUXGA+ display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB internal storage loaded with Windows 10. The Envy x2 is manufactured using lightweight CNC Machined Aluminium and is fanless. The computer is integrated with a backlit keyboard with a 1.3mm key travel. You will be able to type smoothly even in extreme lighting conditions.
The Asus NovaGo will cost $499 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. The 8GB RAM with 256GB storage will be available at $799. HP Envy x2 will be available by Spring 2018 at a competitive price. The Always Connected computers will be pre-loaded with Office 365. We will continue to keep track of the developments. Stay tuned with NetAns.
