LG G7 rumored to ship with an advanced Iris scanner

If rumors are to be believed, LG G7 will reportedly ship with an advanced Iris scanner. The rumor assumes significance with the surfacing of a new patent filed by LG, which reveals the plan of the company to integrate Iris scanner with the upcoming LG G7 smartphone.

According to a news report published on a popular Dutch portal LetsGoDigital, the advanced iris scanner expected to ship with LG G7 will help users to easily unlock the device. Moreover, the iris scanner will be designed in such a way to protect the confidential data stored in the smartphone.

The main purpose of the iris scanner is to verify the biometric characteristics of the eye. The scanner will emit light and dark screen depending on the changes to the iris. It will also decide as to how much amount of light that gets into the scanner. The phone will automatically unlock if the user is really the owner of the handset with the help of Infrared light.

LG is gearing up to design the new camera in such a way that it can switch from infrared to a normal camera. Moreover, the forthcoming LG G7 will have thin bezels on the top and bottom and will only accommodate very important front camera sensors. We can also expect the placement of the selfie camera on the bottom right-hand side.

According to rumors, the LG G7 will be equipped with a 5.8-inch QHD+ display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The specification indicates that the display will be bezel-less like Samsung Galaxy S8 series. You can also expect the addition of the Snapdragon 845 processor.

It is expected that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will carry Snapdragon 845 processor, which will have improved features with reduced heat consumption. Based on the initial reports, the LG G7 will ship with 6GB RAM coupled with 128GB internal storage capacity alongside a 3500mAh fast-charging battery.

The recently leaked concept renders indicates the fact that the LG G7 will offer a dual 16MP camera on the rear paired with a dual 8MP on the front. Hence, there will be four cameras in total. The fingerprint sensor will be embedded on the rear side.

We expect the launch of the LG G7 during the MWC 2018. If the phone is not launched, then the company will likely showcase the features and specifications with expected availability around Q2 2018.
