Android Wear Oreo 8.0 is the next generation operating platform for all Android-enabled smartwatches. We haven’t seen any major announcements during the last several months about the platform but the current revelation of the devices expected to get the update is a step in positive direction.
That being said, there is no guarantee that the above-listed devices will get the update to Android Wear Oreo 8.0 platform. To recall, Google introduced Android Oreo along with the refreshed Google Home Speaker system. The Android Wear market is still not grown and the availability of the smartwatches is limited. Moreover, customers are hesitant to buy the devices because of the cost factor. The expensive price of the Android Wear smartwatches is a matter of concern for budget-conscious customers.
According to industry analysts, the Android Wear devices failed to create an impression among Android users and is unable to compete with Apple Watch. The main reason is attributed to the fact that only third-party manufacturers release smartwatches with Android Wear and the price fixation is beyond the control of Google.
Apparently, many Chinese-based companies have released budget-friendly smartwatches. Hence, customers don’t feel the need to purchase Android Wear-enabled smartwatch. Moreover, the problems associated with connectivity, battery life and price are found to be major roadblocks to the growth of smartwatch market.
