If rumors are to believed, Google Assistant will be available for Android tablets and Android 5.0 Lollipop smartphones within the next few days. According to reports, the Google Assistant will be made available for all tablets running Android 7.0 Nougat and Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Interestingly, the voice assistant will also be introduced for all smartphones running Android 5.0 Lollipop.
If you have Android tablet running either Nougat or Marshmallow, the Google Assistant update will be pushed within the next few days. There is no estimated time frame for the rollout of the update. However, the Assistant will be available only in the US if you set the device language to English. We don’t have any confirmation as to when the update will be visible in other countries and regions.
If you have access to smartphones running Android Lollipop, you have to change the device language to English to enable you to work with the assistant. However, the update will be available for users based in the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, and India.
It will be also available for the Spanish language in the US, Mexico, and Spain. Going forward, users based in Japan, Italy, Brazil, Germany, and Korea can also download and work with the Google Assistant.
The rollout of the Google Assistant to Android tablets is after the success of the digital assistant on smartphones, smart speakers in addition to Android Wear fitness trackers. The voice assistant was introduced in May 2016 at Google’s developer conference along with the Google Allo app and Google home smart speaker. After the initial launch, the company released new iterations of the popular assistant with new features, bugfixes, and improvements.
Google recently refreshed the assistant with several new features optimized for users based in India. The search-engine giant is also developing a special edition of Google Assistant for Reliance JioPhone. If you work with JioPhone, you can expect an update within the next three months.
According to Android distribution data, Google Assistant is currently available to nearly 80 percent of Android devices across the world. The company has overtaken Amazon Alexa and Apple Siri in a bid to tap billions of users to become productive with their daily lifestyle.
