If rumors are to be believed, Amazon India is scheduled to launch a new smartphone with latest trending features and specifications. According to reports, the new smartphone will be named as Amazon Tenor. Previously, the company had launched two smartphones named Tenor E and G.
According to the company sources, the upcoming Tenor smartphone will be exclusively crafted for Amazon. Even though the private label market in India is still at the nascent stage, people buy smartphones which create a buzz. The private label handsets are being marketed with dual cameras and bezel-less displays. This will motivate customers to buy the devices and use them.
Commenting on the development, Manish Tiwary, Vice President, Amazon India disclosed that the company leverage the customer data effectively. Moreover, the product team measures the feedback they received to understand the gaps and problems in the selection. Tiwary also added that the company reaches out to vendors or OEMs to manufacture latest products with their stamp. The prices are fixed aggressively to enable customers of all categories to buy the relevant product.
Responding to media, Anil Kumar, CEO, RedSeer Consulting disclosed that the overall market share of the mobile market would be around $8.5 to $9 billion, which is significantly higher in terms of gross merchandise volume.
Kumar said that the private label category under the smartphone segment would target local, low-brand and mid-brand smartphones, which accumulates around 20% of the overall market. Hence, the total turnover of the private label segment will be around $2 billion.
To recall, Flipkart also recently released a new device with the brand name Billion Capture+ and it created a buzz among smartphone enthusiasts. On the specifications front, the Flipkart Billion Capture+ is equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD display, Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB expandable storage, dual 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera powered by a 3500mAh battery.
The name itself tells everything and the colorful look with product box will lure customers to buy the phone. The display also looks colorful, which is normally being done to attract customers. Moreover, the exclusive private label devices are sold only via the respective e-commerce stores. We expect the launch of several private label smartphones in 2018 with latest specifications.
