OnePlus has finally given a special new year gift for its customers. If you work with OnePlus 5, you can have a loud cheer since the newly released OxygenOS Open Beta 3 provides support for face unlock capability. Interestingly, OnePlus founder Carl Pei had revealed a few days back that the face unlock functionality will find a place in the Onelus 5. The feature has been included in the latest OxygenOS Open Beta 3 released on December 31, 2017.
The main purpose of the new feature is to cater to the growing demands of the users. Even though the Face Unlock capability has been included in the OxygenOS Open Beta for the OnePlus 5, you will not find the feature in the Android Oreo update.
In addition to the Face Unlock capability, you will find plenty of new features and enhancements including December Android security patch. Moreover, the update has resolved the issues associated with 5GHz Wi-Fi connectivity alongside the addition of several optimizations for vibrations. You will find a new shortcut for the Recorder app.
The overall capacity of the update is around 1.58GB and hence you should activate Wi-Fi to download the update to avoid excess mobile charges. It is also necessary to free up 2GB storage space to facilitate smooth installation. It is to be noted that the latest release is the third version of the beta and there could be more iterations to come in the upcoming days.
To install the OxygenOS Open Beta 3 update, you need to unlock the smartphone. We would suggest you capture a backup of your images and videos before proceeding to install the update to avoid data loss.
