Mi A1 First Impressions: Everything you need to know

Xiaomi recently released the Android One enabled Mi A1 smartphone with improved features and specifications. The main highlight of the camera is the addition of a dual camera sensor coupled with the full metal body. The smartphone is also resistant to fingerprints with discreet separation lines. The big attraction of Mi A1 is the release of Android Oreo a few days back with enhanced features.

Display

The Mi A1 is equipped with a 5.5-inch LTPS FHD display with a brightness of 450-nits and 1000:1 contrast ratio. The pixel density of 403PPI helps you to read content and work with apps very effectively.

Performance

Powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor, the Mi A1 features Adreno 506 graphics, 4GB RAM, 64GB expandable internal storage. The chipset runs at a clock speed of 2GHz and is manufactured based on 14nm FinFET technology. It is possible to extend the storage up to 128GB using microSD card.

Camera

The rear side features a dual camera comprising of 12MP wide-angle and 12MP telephone lens sensors. While the wide-angle lens includes a f/2.2 aperture with 5-piece lens and two-tone flash, the telephoto lens carries f/2.6 aperture coupled with 50mm focal length. The camera provides support for 2x optical zoom, PDAF, HDR including enhancements for low light photography. The sensor also includes a wide range of modes such as panorama and continuous shooting in addition to facial recognition. Talking about the front camera, the Mi A1 offers a 5MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture coupled with 36 smart beauty profiles with support for selfie timer.

Battery

The Mi A1 is powered by 3080mAh fast-charging battery. The product package includes a 5V/2A charger with USB Type-C port. The advantage of the smartphone is that you can charge quickly. Moreover, the device provides a standby time of over five days upon normal usage.

Audio

The Mi A1 includes a 10V smart power amplifier alongside advanced Dirac HD sounding algorithm. The technology provides an enhanced sound output with deep lows for not only audio calls but also music. The amplifier provides support for high-impedance headphones of up to 600Ω.

Operating Platform

The Mi A1 is pre-loaded with Android One on top of Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The platform has been ditched by several manufacturers after its explosive growth. Xiaomi has undertaken the effort to refresh the Android One operating platform by incorporating new features. The device also includes an IR blaster using which you can control and manage Televisions. Xiaomi has released Android Oreo update for the Mi A1.
