Intel 8th Gen Core Processors With AMD Radeon Graphics Launched At CES 2018

Intel 8th Gen Core

Intel has launched a wide range of new Intel 8th Gen Core processors integrated with AMD Radeon RX Vega M graphics. The partnership with AMD assumes great significance since Intel normally embed their own graphics chips. The five new processors are all oriented for laptops and not for desktops. Interestingly, all the processors are equipped with 4 core / 8 thread. The specifications sheet clearly shows 4C8T.

The IntelCore i7-8809G runs at a clock speed of 4.2GHz with a base clock frequency of 3.1GHz. The processor accepts memory type of DDR4-2400 with a cache size of 8 and dual memory channels. The chipset is integrated with AMD Radeon RX Vega M GH graphics with Intel HD graphics 630.

The Intel Core i7-8709G is capable of running at a clock speed of 4.1GHz with a base clock frequency of 3.1GHz. The discrete graphics is same as the 8809G model. Even though the specifications of the Intel Core i7-8706G and Core i7-8705G processors are same, the major change is with the graphics processor, which is AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL.

If you look at the Core i5-8305G, the processor runs at a clock speed of 3.8GHz with a base clock frequency of 2.8GHz. The cache size is 6MB with memory type of DDR4-2400 embedded with AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL.

The AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL ships with 20 compute units with 1280 stream processors clocked at 931MHz. The graphics chip is capable of boosting clock speed up to 1011MHz with 4GB HBM2 memory. According to benchmarking results, the AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL is capable of delivering 1.4x sped when compared with NVidia GTX 1050.
