HTC 10 gets better with Android 8.0 Oreo update

HTC has rolled out Android 8.0 Oreo update for the flagship HTC 10 smartphone. The Android 8.0 Oreo update for the HTC 10 is being rolled out in a phased manner via OTA including the latest Android security patch. However, the update is currently available only for the unlocked variants of the smartphone.

According to Android Police, the Android Oreo update is pushed with the software version 3.16.617.2. After the installation of the update, you will be able to work with features such as instant apps, improved Quick Settings menu, notification dots, smart autofill in addition to Picture in Picture (PiP) mode.

Before proceeding to install the update, you need to completely charge the HTC 10 and free up atleast 3GB of RAM. The total capacity of the update is around 1.8GB and hence you should provide adequate space. Moreover, it is absolutely essential for you to establish connectivity with Wi-Fi to avoid excess mobile charges.

Normally, you will have to tap the notification to download and install the update. Alternatively, you can also manually navigate to Settings | About | Software updates menu option. It is essential for you to capture a backup of your data before proceeding to install the update. The main reason is that of the fact that manual installation will wipe out the data on your device.

On the specifications front, the HTC 10 is equipped with a 5.2-inch QHD (2560×1440, 565PPI) display, Snapdragon 820 processor, Adreno 530 graphics, 4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB expandable internal storage powered by a 3000mAh battery. While the rear camera features a 12MP sensor with support for OIS, laser autofocus, dual-LED dual-tone flash, the front-facing camera offers a 5MP sensor with support for OIS, HDR, and autofocus. It is possible to charge the HTC 10 up to 50% in 30 minutes.
