In a significant development, Niantic has announced that Pokemon GO will not work on older iOS-enabled smartphones with effect from February 28, 2018. Hence, the game will not work if you are using an iPhone loaded with iOS 10. You should either upgrade to iOS 11 or purchase a new smartphone such as iPhone 7 or iPhone 8 series.
The reason for the discontinuation is attributed to the fact that the game has been updated. The new version will not work on iPhone 5, iPhone 5c smartphones. Moreover, you will not be able to work on iPads that are not updated to the currently available iOS 11.
In a statement released to the press, the company added that the versions older than iOS 11 on all the smartphones and tablets doesn’t have the required capabilities to tackle the new features included with Pokemon GO. Interestingly, you cannot upgrade to iOS 11 on iPhone 5 and 5C smartphone because Apple itself won’t offer any support.

According to reports, the company has integrated several new features and enhancements to Pokemon Go, which will work only with latest smartphones running iOS 11 and above. If you are an active player, you should take adequate steps to migrate to a smartphone loaded with iOS 11 to continue to experience the new possibilities of the Pokemon GO.
The recent announcement of Pokemon GO AR+ module is exclusively designed to run on devices loaded with iOS 11.
