Star India Reimagines VIVO IPL 2018 With Virtual Reality

Star India is gearing up to reimagine VIVO IPL 2018 by broadcasting live matches of the league in 6 different languages. The aim of the initiative is to engage with and bring in cricket fans from across the globe.

According to Star India, there will be a huge spike in the overall reach of the whole tournament and nearly 700 million fans across TV and digital medium will be able to get benefit from it. Moreover, Star India will stream Vivo IPL on Hotstar in Virtual Reality to provide an immersive experience. The company added that fans will be able to come closer to the high-octane matches within the comfort of their homes.

The highlight of the Virtual Reality functionality is that viewers will be able to select camera angles and commentary language of their choice with customization options via the Super-fan feed. You can work with cricket emojis to improve not only the viewing but also sharing an experience. The mix of TV and Digital will provide an unprecedented opportunity for the advertisers to build brands across multiple platforms.

Commenting on the development, Sanjay Gupta, Managing Director, Star India disclosed that the IPL has grown into the single biggest property by far on Indian television. By leveraging the rich benefits of the digital segment, the Vivo IPL 2018 will meet the expectations of the people by combining technology, consumer insights, interviews, useful commentaries, and experience.

Unlike previous years, the Vivo IPL 2018 will be a 6-month long extravaganza with new-age technology putting fans at the heart of the experience. Gupta added that the company is confident of empowering viewers, advertisers, and media with enhanced convenience and viewing pleasure.

Responding to media, Rahul Johri, CEO, BCCI revealed that the cricket body has transformed the Indian Premier League from a radical new idea into India’s biggest sporting phenomenon. Even though the IPL tournament has scaled high, the sky remains the limit for the VIVO IPL 2018. Johri said that they believe in pushing the boundaries of sports broadcasting to a limit with immense potential. With fun and entertainment spanning 6 months, the BCCI is happy to delight larger number of cricket lovers across the length and breadth of India.

The VIVO IPL 2018 will not be a 2 month event but it will be a 6-month long fiesta starting with the retention event with an aim to reach out to nearly 8.1 million viewers via TV, digital and social media.
