Xiaomi Redmi 5A

Xiaomi has pushed MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat for the Xiaomi Redmi 5A smartphone. With MIUI Global Stable ROM V9.2.1.0.NCKMIEK, the update has been currently rolled out over the air and will hit the relevant devices within few days. Alternatively, you can tap on the Updater icon to verify the presence of the update.

Xiaomi has revealed that the MIUI 9 update based on Android 7.0 Nougat will be made available to 40 devices including the first generation Redmi Note and Mi Pad devices. Interestingly, the new update will be available for devices older than four years. When other companies have abandoned their devices without providing latest updates, Xiaomi has gone one step ahead by creating a niche space.

The MIUI 9 includes a simplified design for virus scan page, theme hiding including add to favorites icon adjustments. It is also possible to migrate data via Mi Mover app. This will enable you to restore data easily in case of any data loss either during the updradation process or deliberate actions.

The update is being rolled out via OTA. Hence, it will take few days for the MIUI 9 for Redmi 5A to hit the device. You will view an update notification as and when the software bits are available. You can also manually download the update file and install via flashing with the help of Fastboot or Recovery ROM methods.

In addition to the above features, the MIUI 9 also ship with new design elements, lock screen shortcuts, split-screen multitasking capabilities, improved notifications and enhanced power saving mode via Doze.
