If rumors are to be believed, Google is gearing up to sell audiobooks on the official Play Store. The main intention of the move is to break the domination of Amazon. If the news turns out to be true, then you can expect a huge boost in the audiobooks segment.
According to 9to5google, an advertisement banner appeared on Google Play for several users, which revealed that the audiobooks will be available for sale on Google Play. Moreover, the banner redirected to 404 page upon clicking on it. The banner seems to be appearing for not only the web but also the Google Play app from within the Android smartphone.
We don’t have any estimated timeframe for the launch of the audiobooks on Google Play Store. Based on the speculation, we expect the launch before the end of Q1 2017. The banner also mentions a fact that users will receive 50 percent discount on the purchase of the first audiobook immediately after the launch.
With the help of the audiobooks, you can listen to the content of the relevant book while traveling or on the go. You just need to plug the earphone or headphone to your device and listen to the audiobook. Yo need not have to read the content like in the case of the conventional book. From our point of view, the audiobooks on Google Play Store will set new benchmarks not only for reading enthusiasts but also book lovers.
