Honor 8 to refresh with EMUI 8.0 along with other smartphones: List Inside


Honor has announced that the Honor 8 smartphone will receive EMUI 8.0 based on Android Oreo. Moreover, the company also revealed that the EMUI 8.0 update will be made available to Honor 7X, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, Honor 8 Lite, Honor 9, Honor 9 Lite, Honor 8 Pro/ Honor V9, and Honor View 10/ Honor V10.

Previously, Honor revealed that EMUI 80 update is not feasible for the Honor 8 due to hardware and software limitations. It is to be noted that Honor 6X is not on the list and it might not receive the update. The smartphone was a huge hit in 2017 and non-availability of the update will be a huge setback for the customers.

Responding to a query posted by Android Police, an official Honor spokesperson disclosed that the new capabilities of the EMUI 8.0 would be ported to Honor 8. Hence, users will be able to work with the latest features. We don’t have any confirmation as to whether the company will provide only EMUI 8.0 update or bundled with Android Oreo. The upcoming Android update will ship with improved features and enhancements not available with the previous counterparts.

Talking about the specifications, the Honor 8 is equipped with a 5.2-inch FHD display, Kirin 950 processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB expandable internal storage powered by a 3000mAh battery. While the rear side features a dual camera comprising of 12MP and 8MP sensors, the front-facing sensor bears an 8MP sensor with LED Flash. The smartphone was released with Android 6.0 Marshmallow based EMUI 4.1 user interface.

Meanwhile, the Honor 7X features a 5.93-inch FHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Kirin 659 processor, Mali-T830 graphics, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, dual 16MP and 2MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, 3340mAh battery loaded with EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat.

It remains to be seen as to whether Honor will release EMUI 8.0 update for Honor 6X smartphone, which got rave reviews among the tech industry.
