Vodafone CEO Vittorio Colao has complimented Government of India for changing the policy in such a way to simplify the establishment of businesses (ease of doing business) in India. During his speech at a WEF Governors meeting at Davos, Colao highly praised the efforts of India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for a marked improvement in the ease of doing business in the country during the last four years.
According to Colao, the initiatives such as Digital India and Make in India have transformed lives to a large extent. The dedicated focus of Modi and the new progressive policy framework are ensuring their successful execution. He said that the enhanced economic liberalization will not only boost new job opportunities but also push international investment into its growing economy
During his speech, Colao revealed that India has significantly increased the amount of spectrum which is now available to operators. The upcoming increase in spectrum caps will further hasten the rollout of mobile networks to the benefit of customers, government, and industry.
The Government of India has redefined the ease of doing business by Simplicity and transparency. This has attributed to India’s position in the ease of doing business global rankings. We have made considerable progress in the process involved with the merger of Idea Cellular and this is a testimony to this approach. Towards the end of his speech, Colao disclosed that India has a clear set of well-defined M&A rules and this is the main reason for the fair and speedy implementation of various policies.
