Working

Step 1

To work with the WonderFox DVD Ripper Pro, you need to double click the icon from the desktop after installation. You will view a screen as shown below

If you are ripping from a DVD Disc, you should select the first icon. If you select ISO Image, you will have to locate a file (ISO format) from your hard drive. The WonderFox DVD Ripper Pro will automatically burn the contents of the ISO file to a folder of your choice. You can also select a relevant DVD folder where the files are located for ripping. The first two options will be useful for you in your daily work life.

Step 2

The next step is to insert a DVD and select the DVD Disc option. You will view a small dialog where you need to check the title and select Ok button.

Step 3

In this step, you will have to select an output format by selecting the option from the navigation panel located on the right side. By default, MPG is selected. You can change it by selecting MPG. You will view a wide range of file formats. You will either have to select one or choose any other format from the displayed formats.

For the purpose of this review, we ripped a DVD file with an overall capacity of around 7.05GB. We selected the DVD Disc option and the WonderFox DVD Ripper Pro automatically located the title of the DVD. If you select OK button, the software automatically verifies the contents and display them on the screen. We are amazed to see that the ripper displays the size of the ripped file as 3.9GB, which is 50 percent less than the original size. Hence, the compression technology integrated with the software works well.

The dashboard displays the total capacity of the original DVD followed by the size after the ripping process. The next step is to change the output folder. The default folder is located deep inside the computer hard drive. Hence, we changed the location to a folder on the C drive. You need to select the button with three dots located on the bottom portion.

Finally, you should select the Run button to rip the contents of the DVD to a folder of your choice. You can either retain the format of the output file to MPG or select any other extension of your preference as discussed above. You will view the ripping progress inside the row as shown below.

As you can see from the below screenshot, the green colored progress bar will be displayed with the percentage of completion in the middle of the dashboard. You can also pause the ripping process and restart again. In addition to the progress bar, the status also indicates the time left for the completion of the ripping process.

You will view Done icon on the middle right-hand side after the successful completion of the whole ripping process.

Conclusion

WonderFox DVD Ripper Pro is an excellent software, which enables you to extract the contents from a DVD or ISO image. The software worked very well during our testing. We used a laptop with Intel 7th generation processor and 8GB DDRL RAM but the software took 10 minutes to complete the ripping process. You will plenty of options inside the software. You cannot rip an ISO file image to EXE and hence you can’t make use of the Ripper Pro for burning bootable DVDs of operating systems. The WonderFox DVD Ripper Pro will be useful if you have a huge collection of old film DVDs. It is advisable to rip them and generate backup so that you can use them in case the original priceless DVD goes out of order.
