Xiaomi has scheduled the launch Xiaomi Redmi 5 at an event to be held in New Delhi on February 14. The Lei Jun-owned company has e-mailed press invites to all media outlets. The company took to Twitter via @RedmiIndia handle and revealed that “5 is set to be unleashed on February 14. Moreover, the countdown starts from today with the hashtag #GiveMe5. We expect Xiaomi to unveil a pink or red color variant of Redmi 5 because the handset is being launched on Valentine’s Day.
We don’t have any information about the features and specifications of the upcoming device except the fact that number “5” is featured on the invite with Feb 14 as the date. Even though we don’t have any details, the invite contains camera frames located on the corner.
The slanting bar on the right side is given in both large and small size. The green line is marked in Green color, while the small line is given in Yellow color. We expect that the upcoming handset will be integrated with a bezel-less display, which will have thin bezels. Xiaomi has indicated the thickness level of the bezels by using diagrams.

The upcoming smartphone could be Xiaomi Redmi 5 because the company had launched in China two months back. There are widespread rumors that Xiaomi Redmi 5 will be the first smartphone to launch in India. The company will most likely drop the Note branding from the device. However, the term exists ever since the company launched the handset three years ago. We will know about the details only on the launch day.
Unlike the previous Redmi Note 4, the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi 5 will offer a 5.7-inch HD+ (1440 x 720) display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Snapdragon 450 processor, 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB expandable internal storage powered by a 3300mAh battery.
The rear camera offers a 12MP sensor with LED Flash, while the front-facing camera features a 5MP sensor. The device will provide support for all major connectivity functionalities. The rumored Xiaomi Redmi 5 will be pre-loaded with MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat.
