Xiaomi is gearing up to launch Redmi Note 5 on February 14. The company has mailed media invites for the launch event with the image featuring the big 5. There are rumors that the Lei Jun-owned company could launch either the Redmi 5 or Redmi5 Plus but sources indicate that the company is all set to take a plunge by launching Redmi Note 5.
The development has been confirmed on the event page of Xiaomi’s official site, which was spotted by Techook. The launch of Redmi Note 5 was most likely confirmed by the fact that the JavaScript code for the countdown timer contained a subdirectory named redminote5. If you visit http://event.mi.com/in/giveme5, you will find a timer countdown.
The backend code was spotted with a subdirectory named redminote5. However, when we inspected the code, we are unable to find any directory name as spotted by Techook. We expect that the company had removed the directory after it went viral in the media.
Expected to be tagged with Make in India initiative, the Redmi Note 5 will be the first flagship smartphone of the company if the device is launched on the Valentine’s Day. If the news turns out to be true, then we can expect Xiaomi to launch a brand new Redmi Note 5 with the latest trending specifications.
Interestingly, Xiaomi also uploaded a video, which gives a rough hint that the upcoming smartphone could be Redmi Note 5. The video begins with 1 made it to the top followed by 2 was quite a star, 3 was a super seller, 4 gave you more. Towards the end, the video reveals that 5 will take it sky high with a circle shape on the background. Based on the circle on the sky, we strongly infer that the upcoming smartphone could ship with a Full Display.
The rumored Redmi Note 5 features a 5.99-inch FHD+ IPS display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the upcoming Redmi Note 5 is powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor, 3GB/4GB RAM, 32GB/64GB expandable internal storage loaded with MIUI 9 upgradeable to Android Oreo-centric MIUI 10.
The rear side will most likely feature a dual 16MP and 5MP sensor with support for LED Flash. On the front, you will find an 8MP camera with FHD video recording capability. Like in the case of the other standard Xiaomi devices, the fingerprint sensor will be housed on the rear side. However, there is also a possibility of embedding the sensor on to the physical home button. The handset will be powered by a 4100mAh battery, which will be capable of delivering an extended backup time.
The main highlight of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is the price advantage. Hence, the cost of the forthcoming device will be around Rs. 10000 to Rs. 15000.
