BSNL has launched 4G mobile service in India via soft mode. Interestingly, the state-owned company has selected Kerala as the first state to experience the high-speed 4G mobile service connectivity. To begin with, BSNL has launched the 4G services in five locations in Idukki district for the purpose of soft launch.
The provider is planning to extend the services to other parts before the end of 2018. The launch of 4G service from Kerala is a step in right direction and will boost the development efforts of the State Government.
It is to be noted that the company hasn’t purchased any new Spectrum. Hence, it remains to be seen as to when the company will launch the 4G mobile service in other parts of India. The company sources revealed to the media that the 4G service will launch in other regions of Kerala by the end of 2018.
According to TelecomTalk, the 4G mobile service offered by BSNL are based on the existing spectrum. You will be able to work with premium 4G services by making use of the existing 3G-enabled SIM cards.
Meanwhile, Nagella Trinath, a digital marketing expert based in Hyderabad had uploaded a screenshot of the 4G mobile service speed test conducted on BSNL 4G network. However, we don’t have any information about the location of the test. The screenshot confirms that BSNL 4G mobile service will be capable of offering a download and upload speeds of 25.20Mbps and 5.36Mbps respectively.

In a bid to compete with Reliance Jio, BSNL also announced a new Home plan of Rs. 67. As part of the new plan, you will be able to perform unlimited local and STD calls to one BSNL landline number within Kerala. Moreover, the company also established a strategic partnership with N-Cell Telecom and T-Mobile to provide International roaming services in the US and Nepal.
