Essential rolls out Android Oreo beta 8.1 update with enhanced features

Essential has pushed Android Oreo beta 8.1 update for its flagship smartphone. The company took to Twitter and disclosed the information about the update. Like in the case of all other updates, the latest Android Oreo beta 8.1 is being rolled out via OTA. Hence, it will take few days for the update to hit your handsets.

In addition to Februarary Android security patch, the Android Oreo beta 8.1 update also includes clock icons, dynamic calendar and a beta version of a slow-scrolling jitter fix. If you are part of Android 7.1 Nougat program, then you can download and install the update by sideloading it. If the update is available on your device, you will view an OTA notification.

The Android Oreo beta 8.1 update also provides support for smart text selection, instant apps, picture-in-picture in addition to an enhanced booting. Meanwhile, Essential is gearing up to launch Essential PH-1 within the next few days.

Essential PH-1 Phone is equipped with 5.71-inch QHD (19:10, 500nits) CGS LTPS display, Snapdragon 835 processor, Kryo 280 chipset, Adreno 540 graphics processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB UFS 2.1 storage, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera, 3040mAh battery. The smartphone provides support for several connectivity features such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, GLONASS including USB Type-C port.
