When tech enthusiasts are busy at the Mobile World Congress 2018, Lava has silently announced the launch of Lava Z50 smartphone in India. The Lava Z50 is powered with Android Go platform, which is the trimmed variant of the popular Android Oreo.
Technically, the Lava Z50 is pre-loaded with an optimized version of Android Oreo, which is capable of running apps such as Google Assistant Go, Maps Go, Gmail Go and YouTube Go. The advantage of these apps is that it will load faster by making use of fewer data and storage space. If you purchase Lava Z50, you will find the presence of these low resource hungry apps, which is exclusively designed and developed for low-end budget-friendly smartphones.
The Lava Z50 also ships with a unique data save mode and the optimized version of the Google Play Store. The main purpose of these modules is to run the apps smoothly instead of waiting for a long time.
The Lava Z50 is equipped with a 4.5-inch display with a resolution of 854×480 pixels. Under the hood, the Lava Z50 features a MediaTek MT6737m processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB expandable internal storage. The device will be available in India starting March 15 at a budget price of Rs. 5000. However, if you invest Rs. 2000 extra, you will be able to purchase a full-blown Android smartphone.
Even though Google has announced that the average cost of Android Go smartphones will be around $50, manufacturers are demanding more due to import duties and other related costs. If companies push Android Go smartphones at around Rs. 2500, then it will be a big challenge for JioPhone.
