Airtel gearing up to establish 6000 mobile sites in Assam and North East

Airtel has announced that the company will establish 6000 mobile site towers in Assam and North East during the FY 2018-2019. tHe company disclosed that they are expanding operations across North East to drive more customers despite climatic challenges and hilly terrains.

After the establishment of 6000 mobile sites, the overall capacity will increase to 25000, thus attaining a 31 percent increase. According to reports, the company is planning to deploy 3000km of fresh optic fiber in the entire north east in a bid to enhance the high speed data services.

The main purpose of the establishment of 6000 mobile sites is to not only improve network capacity but also to provide wireless services in rural areas.

Commenting on the development, Raveendra Desai, CEO of Airtel NE & Assam disclosed that the company officials are planning to establish 16 new mobile sites per day across the whole North east region.

With over 13 million customers across assam and north east, Airtel is the first mobile service provider to launch 3G and 4G services. Moreover, the services even eaches the remote locations such as Lumla, Tuipang, Dawki, and Longwa. The company had already signed an agreement with the Department of Telecom to establish mobile points in remote areas in December 2017. The target is to reach 21000 villages within the next 18 months.
