BSNL allocates Rs 4300 crore to boost network and Broadband in 2018-19

BSNL has announced a massive investment of Rs 4300 crore as part of the network expansion and also to boost the existing Broadband connectivity. According to sources, the state-owned company will invest Rs 4300 crore to expand the network in 2018-2019. Moreover, the company will also push another lot of Rs 5000 to Rs 6000 crore for various Government projects that make extensive use of telecom infrastructure.

The investment of Rs 4300 crore will be used for the installation of 12000 and 10000 mobile towers respectively for 3G and 4G services. The company is all set to implement 4G services PAN India.

Commenting on the development, Anupam Shrivastava, BSNL CMD disclosed that the overall investment of Rs 4300 crore is exclusively reserved for the expansion and strengthening of the mobile network. It will be also used to upgrade the existing Broadband infrastructure including provision for high-speed fiber-optic networks.

Shrivastava added that another investment to the tune of up to Rs 6000 crore will be earmarked for various government projects and also to expand the network infrastructure of North East. Moreover, BSNL is also planning to boost connectivity to Andaman and Lakshadweep islands with a powerful optical fibre network.

The development of North East is vital for India including connectivity to Arunachal Pradesh and BSNL is committed to fulfill this objective. He said the government is giving importance to huge connectivity projects. If you look at private companies, they are not giving any importance to boost connectivity to states in the North East. BSNL is fully capable of executing complicated projects in northeastern states because we are working on behalf of Government.
