Google is gearing up to launch the much-awaited Google Home and Google Home Mini smart speakers in India before the end of April. Moreover, the speakers will be sold as Flipkart exclusive. According to rumors originating from Redington India, a popular tech portal revealed that the search engine giant is planning to launch the new smart speakers in April 2018.
We don’t have an exact date of the launch but the speakers will find limelight around the mid-April. There are unconfirmed reports that Redington has communicated the launch among select retail partners. If the news turns out to be true, then the Google Home smart speakers will compete with Amazon Echo series such as Echo, Echo Dot, and Echo Plus launched in October 2017.
Touted as a hub for the connected home, the Google Home make effective use of Google Assistant. If you look at Amazon Echo, the smart speaker makes use of Alexa cloud service. The Home smart speaker also works similar to that of the Amazon Echo.
You will have to establish connectivity with the app and sync with the speaker. You can then ask questions and the answers will be fetched from Google via Google Assistant. It will take few days for the speaker to get familiar with your voice. In addition to music playback, the Home smart speakers also provide an ability to perform various tasks.
We don’t have any official confirmation about the launch of Google Home and Google Home mini in India. The price will be more or less same as the price in the US. While the Google Home Mini will be available at around Rs. 4500, the Home speaker will cost Rs. 9000. the main difference is with the quality of the speakers.
